CLEMDE®

PARTIAL FLEX®

This is a random copolymer designed for injection molding. It belongs to a particular group known as Olefins.

This polymer is formed when small molecules (monomers) join together to form long chains with thousands of bonds between them (polymers).

This chemical transformation can only occur under certain temperature and pressure conditions, resulting in a thermoplastic material that is flexible, highly impact resistant, and has excellent translucency unlike any other superpolymer of its kind.

The base polymer of Partial Flex® is a biocompatible, hypoallergenic material with no toxicity for human use. Extensive studies conducted by Toxicon Safety Studies Europe N.V. in Belgium support these results. Partial Flex® also has NIOM and ISO 13485:2013 certifications that certify its quality in manufacturing. Partial Flex® has been tested in the prestigious NIOM and ISO 13485:2013 certifications, which certify its manufacturing quality. Partial Flex® has been tested at the prestigious International University of Catalonia.

Properties

Partial Flex® is a material that, due to its molecular structure, does not absorb water, which eliminates the risk of softening of the prosthesis during use. Likewise, there is no loss of color over time, as often happens with other polyamide-derived materials such as nylon.

APPLICATIONS

The concept of metal-free dentures has been heavily criticized because they are made with errors and have been abused in their use. in the early days, erroneous comments were made that flexible prostheses massaged the gums and bone in such a way that bone resorption was not caused. This concept, now understood, has no scientific basis.

As the pathophysiology of the maxillary and mandibular bone has shown, bone resorption can still occur even in the presence of teeth, caused by periodontal problems or poor dental hygiene. With tooth loss, the problem can be greater, as bone loss is accelerated and the vascular supply is limited to the bone trabeculae, being greater in the maxilla than in the mandible. This allows us to clearly observe in an edentulous patient that the mandible suffers greater basal destruction than the maxilla.

However, if we place flexible mucosal-supported prostheses alone, bone resorption will be evident. Why not place mucodentally supported prostheses? This is easily achieved by placing occlusal supports or larger metal connectors. These attachments do not reduce the flexibility of the prosthesis but do provide stability and support to the teeth, turning it into a mucodentally supported prosthesis.

Partial Flex® is an excellent alternative to avoid excessive use of metal, taking into account the importance of leaving a balanced occlusion, eliminating ischemic areas when the prosthesis is inserted, avoiding the use of retainers on each abutment tooth, understanding that it is the insertion guides that allow retention, and not the retainers.
